Could the public keep them honest by deciding to not support profiteering companies and form their own if no suitable alternatives exist? Yes. Is it easily to call your congressperson and ask them to deal with it for you? You bet.
Does a "public option" need to be legislated? If so, do we replace one beauracracy (a private insurance company) with another (the government)?
How can we begin supporting people, like this fictional woman, *right now*? Can we refuse to cooperate with the systems which oppress and create, in their shadows, a new way?
